Here's a Canadian pressing of Billy Joel's breakthrough second album, the one that truly launched his career after the commercial disappointment of his debut "Cold Spring Harbor." Released in 1973, "Piano Man" showcased Joel's storytelling prowess and established the template for his entire career - part Long Island troubadour, part Tin Pan Alley craftsman. The title track, inspired by his real experiences playing piano at the Executive Room bar in Los Angeles under the name Bill Martin, became his signature song and first major hit. This album also features "Captain Jack," the controversial track about suburban ennui and drug use that actually helped get him signed to Columbia after gaining underground radio play.
