Here's a fascinating piece of Neil Young's catalog that often gets overlooked by casual fans but holds real intrigue for collectors who appreciate the full arc of his artistic journey. Hawks & Doves arrived in 1980 during one of Young's most restless creative periods, sandwiched between the experimental Rust Never Sleeps and the divisive Trans. This Canadian Reprise pressing captures an album that's essentially two mini-LPs in one the "Hawks" side featuring electric rockers recorded with Crazy Horse, and the "Doves" side showcasing intimate country and folk material, some dating back to his early 1970s sessions.
